Your computer does not support the size HD you are trying to install. If
its worth the money to you (under $70) then install a controller card with
an onboard bios (Promise and SIIG) make these to correct this. You'll be
able to boot the new HD off the new card. I've done this several times.
Its the only way to do this on a PS/1

Subject: [PCBUILD] Installing CDROM in PS/1

Thanks for the help. I'm have been headed in the right direction. I put the
hard drive as the master (Maxtor 82100A4)and CDROM 24X (ide/atapi) cicero
as the slave. The PS/1 now indicates I should insert a disk in A drive,
showing the drive and all the function keys at the bottom of the screen
with arrows flashing pointing to the F1 key. Does this mean the it can't
boot from the hard drive or is the hard drive in the wrong order on the IDE
cable? I have it first as indicated in the CDROM manual. I don't understand
the Bios of the PS/1 as I can't configure harddisk 1, it just allows me to
say the 2nd harddisk is installed . I don't have any manuals on the PS/1
and can't find it on IBM's homepage. Is there a configuration disk for
this. Any suggestion?
