3 years??? That's a long time to have missed out on defragging or scanning.
Ok, before I start, I know alot of people will probably disagree, but this
works for me.
I've often had the same problem with various operating systems where it
starts to scan, and then keeps restarting, and the same with the defrag, so
I no longer use them.
I tend to use Norton utilities for most of my defragging and scanning, as it
does the same in a fraction of the time, and has kept my ME running fine for
some time now.
I've also found it's cured untold problems on my childrens computers too.
As I said , it's worked so far for me over the years and I wouldn't be
without it.

Been trying for three years to defrag ME or get scan disc to work. Works
for about five minutes and then is hit by something in the background. Have
deleted everything in sight, and tried safe mode, nothing works. Got any
ideas?
