Hi Garry,

Some graphic cards come with a decompression function which every dvd needs
to work properly.  If the onboard graphic card had this function and you
disabled the graphic card, this could explain why the dvd doesn't work.

Since the computer is a compaq pressario, chances are that the decompression
function was on the card.

For your information, you could buy a separate decompression card if you
need one.
