What AMD does differently than Intel, instead of explicitly specifying the
internal core clock rate, is use a formula based on FSB (Front Side Bus
speed), internal clock multiplier, and memory width to provide a number
which rates the maximum processor bandwidth in Mbytes/sec. It is meant to be
an overall rating including CPU, I/O, and memory performance. The intent is
to be able to compare processor against each other in a more
apples-to-apples comparison.
