Real Player will behave if you enter the program preferences and poke around
a bit to keep it out of startup. I use a program called Viddi Radio Player
that uses some Real Player files, so I need to keep it installed, but it
hasn't been in the tray in quite a while.

The curse of Realplayer is exactly that, every time you use it the program
sets itself up to run at startup. My personal advice would be to uninstall
it.
