<< Dear David & Listers

No I don't have 2000 terminals. I used the number 2000 to convey that the
data files are small. This is a professional office. I have one main
office, but I like to be able to access my records from several remote
 locations.

Can a phone controlled switch access the line that the computer has hung
(not hung up but frozen) on? Can such a swithc also distinguish between
voice data and fax calls? I know I'm pushing the envelope here.
 Thanks again

Joel and Listers,

Yes the phone controlled switch that I have seen accesses the AC.
(Not the control voltage on the UPS)
(Maybe you did not understand that you cannot normally make a call on a line
that is tied up) This switch will just listen for its codes if a person or
the answering machine or fax machine answers the call. (but something must
answer the phone) Control the switch by entering a code from a touch tone
phone. I only have a few clients, but I have small data files too.
I keep copies of them on a zip disk.
