I have a Motorola 56k winmodem, and the minimum requirements are 166mhz
machine... On my 200mmx/64megs, certain apps slowdown and others (like
WinAmp) are unuseable while the modem is connected and other apps are
running.

My next purchase is going to be a good hardware 56k modem, if I don't go
with Cable or DSL. I will never... ever... ever purchase a winmodem again.
