Hey, [log in to unmask] (I still have my laptop)

I sure empathize with you. Although I am not having your problem, I have
found MSN to be a real pain. Even though I switched to MSN to escape AOL,
(I cannot believe I am saying this) I miss AOL. Now, to your problem.

I would try two approaches (with apologies if you have already tried these.)
First, I would shut down everything else that I could, especially antivirus
and firewall programs. Get other programs out of the startup and shut down
whatever you can with alt-cont-del. Perhaps you have some sort of conflict.

The second approach would be to try the modem for other things. Did you get
preloaded software that use the modem? In my case, I got answering machine
software, fax software and software for signing up for other ISP's. Do
these programs work? Although I would love to pile on about MSN, let's find
out if there is something else going on. After doing that, THEN we can
complain!
