Wingate is as easy to setup as any of the proxy programs out there
and probably more durable, creates a better firewall and is very
configurable. The real secret to setting it up is to read the instructions
carefully on Wingate's web site. You must not only setup your Server
machine carefully, being sure you have the TCP/IP driver installed for
your network card, but you also must be sure that the system services
such as DHCP, GDP and DNS are configured to bind to the server's
network card IP address.

You also must be sure to follow the step-by-step instructions on installing
on the client machines... I recently set it up here on my network
twice, on two different occasions, in less than 30 minutes, including
client machines.

Read the instructions carefully at:
http://wingate.deerfield.com/helpdesk/
choose your operating system and/or internet access, then follow the
procedure step-by-step.
