Hi. R Paddock...

Let's get things clear for a minute...

Gold / blue / green colored cd-r's are good for data and audio
Silver colored cd-r's are also good for Data but they are the best for
audio because the reflection is higher.

Your problem.. a bad set of cd's or it's a laser problem of the writer.
Some writers can't burn on golden disks because the laser color that is
used can't reflect enough from the disks.
