Hello Everyone,

Recently my pentium 233 running Win95B locked up. I did CRTL-ALT-DEL
and END TASK to stop the application and continued working. Later when
I turned on the machine, it booted but when it was starting Win95, the
system halted and gave me this message:

VFAT Device Initialization failed.
A device or resource required by VFAT is not present or unavailable.
VFAT cannot continue loading. System Halted.

I soon found out that it was a device driver. I ran SCANDISK which
fixed some of my damaged files. I also went into my SYSTEM.INI and
located the damaged files. They were all VXD extension files and 2 ACM
extension file. I thought that I fixed the problem when I properly
wrote the commands in my SYSTEM.INI. Now I am getting the message that
these files cannot be found or have been deleted and that I should
install the application that uses these files. The problem is I don't
know which application uses files with extension VXD. Does anyone have
an idea as to which applications might use these files? I deleted a
couple of my apps so I don't know which one I need.

The computer is also looking for C:\WINDOWS\system\VMM32\NTKERN.VXD.
Does anyone know if this file is associated with any application or
Win95 so that I may delete it.

Thank you for your help.

Shirley
