I can tell you about one of my experiences...

I went from a 386 DX 40 with 16MB RAM with a 250 MB HD, to a P 75 with 32MB
RAM... I kept the 250 MB HD, and the system didn't seem like it had sped up
much at all...

After a month or so, I went to a 1.2 gig HD, and you should have seen the
difference... I couldn't believe that the HD was slowing it down that
much...

I checked the access time on both drives, and the access time on the 250 was
about 18ms, the access time on the 1.2 gig was about 8 or 9ms...
