The short answer is no as you would have to replace the motherboard also.
The first thing to check is what processors speeds the MB supports and replace 
it with the fastest you can find or afford. CPU replacements hardly ever make 
economic sense.

Subject: [PCBUILD] replace dell laptop cpu

Hello.
I have an Dell Lattitude D600 laptop with a Pentium M processor. I would like 
to replace the cpu with a faster processor.

Would it be safe to replace it with a Pentium M, Socket 478 cpu?  It currently 
has a socket 479 cpu.
