If you want to copy everything for D: to F:, why not?

After xcopy, just switch the new HDD to IDE1 as master, that will do, you
can active it in FDISK too, but I have done without touch FDISK, no problem
at all.

why you need to set parameter if you are already using the new drive? set
BIOS to "AUTO", let BIOS does the work for you.
