I just built a new system and am running into all kinds of problems.
I used an Asus P3V4X PC-133- motherboard and a Creative Labs Annihilator 2- video card. Ran into a couple of problems, which turned out to be my monitor. Thought I had everything set until I put in my memory I purchased. I bought 4 sticks of CT16M64S4D75 from Crucial Technologies, each stick is 128MB, 168-pin, SDRAM, PC133, 16Meg x 64, Unbuffered, Non-parity, 7.5 ns, 3.3V, cl=3. I installed all 4 sticks and the computer wouldn't boot so I installed one at a time. I put in the first stick and everything seemed okay, put in the second stick and started getting an error or two (freeze-ups) (fatal exceptions, etc), put in the third stick, got even more freeze-ups, and fatal exceptions (I will post a few of the messages at the end), when I put in the fourth, the computer wouldn't even boot. It got as far as the message "hit del to enter setup" and froze. I changed the memory around and got the same thing. The motherboard supports up to 2 Gig of memory.
I tried putting in another video card in case there was a conflict, but got the same results.
These are a few of the messages I received:
fatal exception OE has occurred at 0028:FF60D500
fatal exception OE has occurred at 0177:BFF9DBA7
fatal exception OE has occurred at 0028:00000009
fatal exception OE has occurred at 0028:C0005D6E in VXD VMM(01)+00004D6E
fatal exception OE has occurred at 0028:C0031A7E in VXD
VFAT(01)+00009486 (I received this one with 2 sticks, while I was in Netscape. I hit enter and it returned to the browser and was fine) Is this the memory, the board, or what?
Once again I am totally lost. You helped me the last time I got in
trouble, so I'm hoping someone can help me now.
Annette
