I had a similar problem over the weekend....Could not install programs from
CD....It turned out the Hard Drive was the culprit, backed off the BIOS
settings and lowered the Bus Speed a notch and it worked fine after that.
The system was outperfomring the hard drive. The drive works fine now and
the system runs fine. Maybe try setting the IDE from UDMA down to PIO3 or
PIO4 and see if the problem continues....
