I'm not sure this still works in modern versions of Windows,
(and you did not list yours <grin>),
but I used to start Win.Com with a "switch" from the Command line.
I think it was something like:        win /DX
I thought that was "funny" since it would start with a clean memory,
and reminded me if the actual Window Cleaner "Windex"...

I just checked for OTHER switches from a CMD box in Windows-XP-Pro
and got nothing...
