Donna,

Ahh, there is the rub. General purpose ATX cases come with a removeable back
panel, and motherboards usually come with a snap in replacement panel that
matches the motherboard.

However, name brand PC's like Compaq, HP, Dell, etc usually aren't designed
to be upgradeable this way, and typically don't have this feature.

Your best bet is to buy a new case also, but preserve as much from the old
Compaq as possible (drives, etc).

Hi, I am trying to upgrade my sons computer for Christmas. I just puchased a
KT600-A motherboard and the AMD Athlon XP 2700 Processor. The problem is
that his computer case does not have the same openings in the back to line
up with the new motherboard. Am I able to purchase a new back plate for the
case or do I have to buy a whole new case. Either way, I am not sure how to
find the correct one for this motherboard. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you, Donna Salinas

P.S.
It is a compaq computer just incase you need to know that
