You can daisy-chain one system to another using Internet Connection
Sharing if you want to. Just place the newer system first, then the
older one second. The better alternative is to spend about $50 to $60
for an entry-level router like a Linksys or a D-link. How that setup
would work is first you have the cable modem attached to the wall plate
with coaxial cable (think TV here). Next would be a Cat-5 cable
connecting the modem to the router. Cat-5 cable looks sort of like a
round phone wire with wider tips on the ends. After the router, you can
use Cat-5 to hook up to each computer's network card (look for a jack
similar to a phone's, but wider), or you can use wireless network cards
if the router supports this option (the router will also be called a
wireless access point if this is the case). Most routers will work right
out of the box with default settings, but they are more secure with some
additional setup (see the manuals for more details). Feel free to ask
any other questions you may have as you get into this. Best of luck. :)
