SE did not come with Power Toys, but you can get a copy of it from here... http://www.winmag.com/windows/win98/software.htm

Otherwise you can make the appropriate Registry adjustments as follows (backup your registry first)...

Go through the Start button, click Run, type regedit. Click through the following...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\current version\network\real mode net

then click edit - new - binary value. Call it autologon double click to open and set the value to "00 00 00 00" 01 00 00 00 - the section with " " around it will be pre existing. Reboot and watch to see if changes take effect.

Note: Regardless of what method you use, there is a slight delay and the logon dialogue does appear briefly. Also if Windows is restarted without fully shutting down the autologon sometimes fails, but comes right when the machine is started from cold boot.

Another irritation I find which you might like to eliminate is to get rid of the log off prompt in the start menu. To fix this start the registry editor as described above and go...

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer click edit - new - binary value and name it NoLogOff, double click to open and set the value to "00 00 00 00" 01 00 00 00 close regedit and reboot for changes to take effect.

Good luck.

Regards Roger.
