When running games using OpenGL, after about 5 to 10 minutes the
graphics start to distort. For example, evenly spaced vertical lines or
dots might appear all over the screen. Eventually, after several minutes
in this state the PC freezes........

I have a similar problem. My PC frequently freezes up so badly that I
have to power down and reboot. This started when I installed a new
graphics accelerator card.

System comprises:

Mobo. Gigabyte GA-6VA7+ (VIA Apollo Pro AGPset)
CPU. 633MHz Intel Celeron
RAM. 64MB (PC133)
GAC. Gigabyte Nvidia Riva TNT2 M64 (32MB SDRAM AGP)
The card has no cooling fan.

When one is running a 3D game the freeze up occurs in about 30secs. 2D
varies between 30min. to 4hrs.

Since the mobo. and graphics card are manufactured by the same company
I did not expect to have a hardware incompatability problem.
As far as the software setup is concerned the Nvidia manual does not
explain what the various settings are for.

Can someone please shed some light on this frustrating situation and/or
recommend a web site/s that adresses these issues and hopefully explains
how the various settings affect performance.

TIA

David George
