Additional to my last message:
If you have another running XP system with at least SP1,
a "full install" WinXP CD, and a CD burner, you could make
a BartPE boot disk and use it to skip all the hardware switching...

using a windows 98 boot disk,   I was going to try to
save a couple of their files they didn't have backed up.
My guess is that they are all gone.  Am I right?
