Outlook has an option to automatically retrieve mail that does not
seem to use DUN, but it does use the settings from it (i.e. phone
numbers etc).  I have my DUN set to NOT to AutoDial but Outlook goes
right on ahead anyway.  For me this is not a problem, but ...

Fred, you probably tried this, but it sounds like you suggested
internet
explorer was the culprit. Under "View," "internet options,"
"connection,"
"settings," is a check box for "connect automatically to update
subscriptions."
Sounds like a microsoft thing, the less user control the better they
like it.
