 Hi Richard,
Check out the DIY site above for info on building your own laptop.
I did then researched laptops from Dell HP Gateway and Alienware. I went  
with the HP DV9000t. To me it looks like the best value. We have a lot of Dells  
at work, and it seams the hard drives are not very good as within the last two 
 years we have replaced 6 hard drives as well as my own Dell Insprion 8100. I 
 bought my new HP through the Costco web site and saved money over HP's  site.
