Hi, maybe my suggestion about fdisk /mbr might help then? I'd use a plain
old win98 boot floppy to do this.
Or, failing that, have you thought of :
m:\ setup    ?
My mother had a pc once that had a really strange way of dealing with things
when she used the disk which came with it. It named the drives very
strangely indeed.
When I got hold of it, I used my normal win98 disk and ran fdisk /mbr, and
formatted,  and that seemed to cure it. After that, it had an A, C and D
drive. (E, when it was setting up windows)
This may or maynot help.
