How do I purge a print job on an HP LaserJet 1200?

No more data is being sent to the printer (I cleared the item using the
Printer Control Panel). I've removed the paper from the tray.

I now want to delete the data that remains in the printer while the job was
being canceled.

According to the instructions, pressing the Go button cancels the print job.
However, the Go button ignores my command.

On my older HP LaserJet 6L, I could remove the paper, press the Go button
for about 5 seconds, and the printer would delete the existing data. There
doesn't seem to be an equivalent command on the HP LaserJet 1200, despite
the on-line instructions.

Can anybody help me delete the data in the printer?
