On your P233 laptop you may not even have a USB plug, but if you do, it would be USB 1.  USB 2 is probably within the last year, and while it may be possible to have a PIII setup with USB 2, most likely it would be because someone installed a USB 2 PCI card.  Whether you have USB 2 support would depend on when your mobo was manufactured(preferably within the last year or so).  There aren't even that many USB peripherals yet.
