My grand daughter has a Dell Optiplex G110 that I tuned up for her last year with extra RAM and a 2nd HD. The OS (XP Pro)resides on the C drive and I told her to use the F drive (2nd HD) to save everything on. Today her father was doing some renovation work in the room below her and was driving nails while she was doing HW. She said she felt one heavy bang and her computer froze. When we try to reboot we get a message that says: Previous attempt at boot failed at checkpoint (Vopn), call Dell Tech Support. This computer is about 6 years old so I doubt if Dell will give me much help. I suspect the C-drive crashed and is trash. Can I salvage what ever is on the F drive if I put it my computer which has an available IDE connection?
