Win2K -- like NT and XP -- does a much better job of managing
system resources (which is what Sue is running out of) than 95/98/ME
do. The disadvantages are:

1. Some legacy applications from Windows 3.1 may not be compatible
with the way they do it. This is more likely to be a problem for
small businesses with old custom applications than for home users.

2. I have a stack of software (mostly games, I'll admit) and
hardware (scanner, video microscope, digital camera) that, despite
the advances in support for Plug'n'Play, DirectX, and USB, refuse to
play with my Win2K machine. I have to keep my 98SE machine around,
or replace them.

3. NT/2K/XP have generally been less friendly to home users, and to
budgets, than 95/98/ME.
