Dante,

You don't want (or need) to do that. The way to use the second HDD is
to simply daisy-chain it on the flat ribbon cable. It should have two
connectors toward one end (for two hard drives) and one connector at the
other end (for plugging into the controller, whether mounted directly on
the MoBo or on a peripheral HDD controller adapter card).

However, what you must do, is:

                1). Jumper both HDDs according to the manufacturer's
specs, one as 'Master' (or 'Primary') and the other as 'Slave' (or
'Secondary');

                2). Go into CMOS SetUp at bootup, and enter the drive
parameters for the new "Secondary' HDD, save and exit SetUp.

Now, you didn't say whether or not:

  a). you are already using the second position on the HDD flat ribbon
cable for your CD-ROM unit, (if so, un-connect the CD-ROM from the HDD
flat ribbon cable, and reattach it with its own flat ribbon cable to the
sound card's EIDE port. Check the sound card's jumpers to make sure that
its EIDE port hasn't been disabled );

  b). your flat ribbon HDD cable has only one connector at each end (if
so, get a new flat ribbon cable of the appropriate length with the proper
configuration of connectors, two toward one end and one at the other
end).

Hope this helps,

Opie
