There are three ways to network a printer that work,
(that I know of).

The more advanced ways are NOT always necessary,
or even the most efficient.

The simplest. Set up sharing and add the drivers
through the network. Works most of the time.

Second. When above fails. Install printer local on all
PCs and/or then add a port in printer properties and
assign the network path to the port, (\\Rickg\hp-820cse).

Third. Install printer local on all PCs and then install it
again keeping the existing drivers, and assign the "second"
printer to the network. (This was Toms plan. Thanks Tom.
I was "stuck" till I read your post, but did it the second way...)
This seems redundant (installing on the same PC twice),
and SOME printers do not like their drivers installed twice.

In a related discussion, (should be another thread I suppose),
I have often installed the same printer more than once
(forget networking for now) for the sole purpose of having
a printer configured with different settings. But as most things
in computers, that only works with some printer drivers...
