I added a third hard drive to my Micron system a few days ago. Because I
mounted it in a front bay I had to remove the front panel. I noticed that one of
the fans (in front) that sucked air into the case was not spinning, or rather was
making attempts to spin every half minute or so.

Is this a power supply problem (not enough power to run the fan) or is the
fan just dying a slow death ? Should I make attempts to disassemble and
clean it?

On another matter (probably a silly question but I'll ask anyway): After I
mounted the third drive on the rail kit to slide into the 5 1/4 bay, I noticed that
it did not make good electrical contact with the case (the mounting frame is
attached to two plastic rails that slide into the bay. Even though the power
supply cable has grounds, this seemed odd to me. I took one of the copper
wires from inside a piece of telephone cable and attached one end to the
chassis and the other to the drive frame.
Was I being too cautious ?

TIA
