I've had a desktop cordless mouse (a Genius Netscroll Wireless). When
used with regular batteries it was OK, and they last about a week.
After that, the behavior of the mouse becomes increasingly erratic
despite battery meter still showing normal, so I had to replace the
batteries.

This got too expensive, so I've started using my 1.2v rechargeable
batteries. They only last 2-3 days before same erratic behaviour
starts showing.

Overall I was very disappointed with the mouse. It has a good grip and
4 buttons, and feels very good, but the problems that start soon when
the battery becomes not-so-fresh wipe out all the advantages.

I've replaced it with a 'wired', optical trackball, from Logitech. I'm
happy now :-)
