As an additional note to setting your own "permanent" virtual memory:
First run defragmation on the drive that you intend to use for this purpose.
Then, in System Properties>Performance>Virtual Memory set the max and min
values for memory to the same value.  For example, say you have 64 MB of
main memory.  2.5x64 = 160 MB.  So you would allocate 160MB as both the min
and max values for virtual memory.  After this, you have to reboot your
system.

Hi Dennis,
I would recommend that you elect  to set your own virtual memory
in win98... set it to a value  equal to  approx  2.5 times your
ram installed in the system and see what happens..... sometimes
windows get carried away doing this and uses up all your resources.
