  Apparently what this virus does to the motherboard is to reprogram the
"flash" BIOS ROM.  [But also see below....]

  To fix this, you need a spare ROM, or another machine with the same
motherboard.  You need to boot with a good ROM, use a flash utility to make a
copy of the good ROM to a file, remove the good ROM and insert the corrupted
one, use the flash utility to reprogram the corrupted chip with the good copy.

  You might not wish to try this at home; it's the sort of thing you might
prefer to pay a professional to do.  Probably the worst that can happen is
that you get confused and destroy/corrupt the good BIOS in addition to the
one the virus got....


  [] Note that this virus *also* overwrites about the first 2000 blocks of
hard disk, including the partition table, FAT and root directory; recovering
from this could be somewhat harder.
