This happened to me once recently while trying to install a game update off
the Internet for my son.  I restarted the PC in DOS-prompt-only mode and
searched for files that had changed or been created recently on the PC.  I
found a BAT file in the Windows directory that was being called every time
the PC started which caused it to immediately reset.  I deleted the BAT
file and Windows started up with no problem after that.  I forget the name
of the file now but maybe it will give you an idea of what to look for.
