Clive, some very earlier monitors were known as Postage Stamp monitors
because of the wide black border around the actual display area. I have one
old 14" with the same characteristics and don't know of any way to change
it. You probably will just have to live with it or get another monitor.

Regards,
Alan Priol.

I have a friend who has an old monitor. The problem is
that her desktop display size is smaller than the
screen size. I have tried changing the
resolution/color scheme etc. I am not primarily a
hardware man and am afraid to change the driver to an
SVGA driver. No drivers available for the monitor on
the regular download sites. My question is:
Is it possible to damage the monitor physically by
changing to a wrong driver or a wrong refresh rate?
Regards
Clive
