I think you will save a lot of time by going to the Compaq website and
getting any Softpaqs that may be available for the machine before you
try this.  You can search with the model number; the Softpaqs cover
all manner of driver issues and any special tweaks to Win95 (which is
proprietary to Compaq, of course).  It's worth a look anyways.
