Hi:
I have recently experienced a CMOS battery failure. The battery was
replaced with no problem (CompUSA sent me to Radio Shack for the
battery.) I manually reset the CMOS and BIOS setup (running an ASUS
SP97-V motherboard and Pentium 100 chip.)
Ever since, I have been unable to access my Floppy A: drive. When I
click on the drive, the mouse becomes very sluggish, and it takes a long
time to say either:
No valid media in drive A or
A:\ is not accessible. The drive is not ready.
The green light does turn on when I try to access it.

Using Norton's System information I get:
Reported physical information: Number of cylinders 80.
                                                Sectors per track
18
                                                Total
Heads 02
                                                Drive
Type 1.44 MB
Actual Physical Information Number of Cylinders 1
                                                Sectors per Track
18
                                                Total
Heads 160
                                                Drive
Type 1.44 MB
Worried that it might be viral in nature, I ran Norton's, MacAlfee and
AVP with no result. Under CMOS, I am set up for 3.5 inch 1.44 MB in A
and Floppy 3 Mode Support disabled, and boot sequence C,A. PNP OS is
enabled for Win 98. Boot Up Floppy seek is disabled, and Floppy Disk
Access Control is set to read and write.
What am I missing in my CMOS setup, or has my drive died at the same
time as my battery? Thanks so much.
