Assuming the CD is dead (you didn't mention if you got blinking lights or
any lights or if you could hear it spin) and you cannot open the tray, look
for a pinhole opening on the front of the drive.

You should be able to push a paper clip into the opening which will manually
eject the disk. I've completely taken CD ROM's apart and put them back
together; from my experience, if all signs show it's dead, it's cheaper just
to get a new one or force it off onto the warranty people.

Subject: [PCBUILD] CD-ROM dead

Today, the power went off twice within 2 minutes while the computer was
on. Now, my CD-ROM is "inaccessible," and there is a CD in the drive.
I've checked everything I can think of. Windows sees the drive in My
Computer, and the BIOS sees it, but when clicking on it, I get the
inaccessible error. I removed it in Device Manager and rebooted, but
still to no avail. Any suggestions?
