You need to make sure in your bios that the serial ports are
enabled...then you need to go to device manager to make sure that you
don't have a conflict between two devices trying to use the same
port....again you never mentioned what you are trying to use on your
serial port...you have to be very specific in your problem or we can
only be general in our solution...also it sounds like you have a
conflict with one of your devices in port, Irq...is why the modem isn't
working...look for the things that i have mentioned & also if that is
not the case be more specific in your response to the problem..

I have a Windows 98 Machine that will not recognize anything attached
to the serial port.  What do I have to do, to get the port working.
Also, same machine will not recognize the PCI Modem (Conexant soft56K).
I have tried reloading drivers for the modem but with no success.
