If what Jun Qian said doesn't work you may well have hit a limitation in BIOS. We used a program called Ontrack which loads a little program when preparing the disk to allow you to get the most from the drive. Thereafter when booting it takes care of the BIOS limitation. This was provided on a Seagate tools disk, but I would think that you should be able to get similar support from Maxtor. How old is the PC?

Regards Roger.
