Hi Erif,

Thanks. yes mentioning the model always helps.

This may sound funny, but you said that you weren't sure about the figures on CPUID Hardware monitor,

but I'm not sure why you're not. (g)

The panel shows Present - , Min.- and Max.- temps in the columns, so if your present temps start to approach

max. values, you know that things are overheating for some reason.

Interesting tidbit picked up from this thread:

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/280262-28-worrying-temps-inspiron-1525

which I missed mentioning about the battery. When older ,the battery tends to run hotter ,since internal resistance

will increase over time.

Disconnecting the battery will help a bit ,but won't solve the internal heat problem if related to the fan

and it defeats the portability feature of the laptop.

Also mentioned in this thread is the source of the service manual (Direct link to the PDF)

ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_laptop/esuprt_inspiron_laptop/inspiron-1525_service%20manual_en-us.pdf

But you would have found those if you had visited the Dell website and the link I gave earlier on.

http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19?c=us&l=en&s=dhs

Select Model etc.

Hope this gets you on the way.

Peter E.

Hi, Peter,

It's an Inspiron 1525, if that helps. I'm not very good with the

forums, as I mostly don't understand what they're saying.

Sounds like I need to replace the fan. Meanwhile, should I remove the

battery?

Thank you,

Erif.
