Error message was, "File Allocation Table could not be read or repaired.
They are physically bad. Further testing is not possible".

Norton Disk Doctor was also tried several times without success.

With the thought hard drive might still be under warranty, hard drive
manufacturer was called. Technician advised download and run diagnostic
and repair tool from their website. That restored operation of hard
drive.
