You can always use a USB keyboard if you have at least
win98 for an OS.  I bought a board that had just two
USB ports and I added a hub and use a USB keyboard
instead of the PS one I had.  But first I'd try going
into start, settings, control panel, system, device
manager and delete  your keyboard and reboot and see
if your machine recognizes your keyboard at that
point.
