I am considering building/having built a new "state-of-the-art" PC. I
notice that the latest Intel Pentium 4 has a front side bus speed of 533
Mhz. However, the fastest DDR memory now available is 400 Mhz. Is there
any advantage to having the memory speed and front side bus speed the same?
or are these two "speeds" irrelevant to each other? If there is some
advantage to both speeds matching, what would such advantage be
incrementally? Since 533 Mhz DDR memory is not yet available, would it be
worthwhile to wait? Additionally, should anyone care to elaborate; general
comments about the relative impact of memory quantity, memory speed, front
side bus speed, processor speed, video memory amount and speed, hard drive
seek time and transfer speed and any other component/specification on PC
performance would be instructive. Responses from all in layman's terms
greatly appreciated. Thanks!
