  If you boot from a DOS diskette, can you see files on the C: drive
partition?  (i.e., Is it FAT16 rather than NTFS?)
  If so, you can copy off the .sam file to another machine and run
the password-cracking utility from L0pht against it.  Odds are good
that this will uncover the local administrator password, which should
be sufficient.

  If this doesn't work, there are probably still ways to crack it,
but it may be simpler in the long run to reformat the drive and
install your own operating system.
