I am attempting to network 2 home PC's that have been running flawlessly for
1 year because I built them using the expert instruction and tips from this
list. Thank you all.

I have installed the PCI nics in the AMD K6-400 (DFI MB, 64M ram, 4.3 HD,
Win 98) and the Cyrix 200L (M-tech MB, 64M ram, 3.2 HD, Win 98)according to
MF instructions and are detected and running. I have Cat 5 cable with female
ends using 3 FT patch RJ11's into the PCs. I used the CAT B twisted pair
wire config. not the crossover wire config. The other ends of the Cat 5 have
patch RJ11's into a cheap 5 port hub.

I have matching protocols in both machines TCP/IP, IPX, and NETBEUI. I have
tried one at a time and combos of each. (I would prefer using TCP/IP because
in the future I want to add 1 Cable Modem for both PCs.) I can see the
individual PCs in Network Neighborhood but I cannot see the other networked
PC on either.

There so many variables involved, it seems to be difficult to troubleshoot.
It could be something simple that I forgot to do or didn't do correctly. Is
there a troubleshooting checklist available to help me systematically
troubleshoot this configuration so I can map drives and share files? Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again for your help.

Walter McKinley
