Use of UDMA controller

Seagate 9.1 GB UDMA Medalist Pro
Promise technology UDMA PCI controller
Tyan Titan Turbo ATX-2 1573 motherboard
AMDK6 233 processor

Installed the NT driver for the UDMA card. Moved the cables from the
motherboard to controller. Rebooted but then received the message:
cannot find the operating system.
Had made one 2048 MB partition for NT, using the 4.5 GB drive as the C
drive.
I am unclear why this occured.
Any and all ideas, suggestions would be appreciated.
