Speaking from experience, you will only waste more time.

Unless you replace with similar mobo (eg. same chipset), always do a fresh
install (in my opinion, just backup things you need, and do a
format/installation).  This may seem to take more time, but doing things
right at the beginning, will save you a lot of more hours of time later.
